a.me (pronounced "ay-mee") is the combined project of Amy Hearn, and former Blanche Hudson Weekend drummist, producer and programmer, Matt Robson.
Driven in equal parts by a love of indie pop and electronic music through to the sampling bricolage of hip hop - their debut album, "Crocus", was made under the influence of New Order, Zizek, Cixous, The Field Mice, Saint Etienne, Burial and Derrida (listing a few well known, and maybe not so well known inspirations) to produce a melancholic yet ultimately stirring and uplifting electronic post-pop that never forgets to place melody and the song at the core of its being. The result is a wonderfully confident, catchy, and sublime debut offering that we at Next Phase : Normal Records (see Girl One And The Grease Guns for more information) are proud to be releasing. We could take up more of your valuable time attempting to describe the sound of each of the tracks on the album - but we don't see any point in doing that. The best way is to just sit back, relax...and, well, you know what to do.
Crocuses : Harbingers of spring. They're the first flowers to poke through the soil, sometimes even when snow is still on the ground. Diminutive yet unshowy, they suggest a narrative of renewal.
