Lemon Trees
Every now and then, an artist comes along that you just can’t place - one who fuses many styles, one whose passionate melodic songs cry out with emotion and pastoral beauty. Introducing Clair Brennan - Raw, uncut, urban folk.
Born in the heart of industrial Stoke-on-Trent, Clair’s dynamic and delicate song writing came to fruition in 2006, when she encapsulated her feelings and life experiences in personal acoustic guitar based songs. Later that year the guitar was hung up and the book temporarily closed. Clair’s urge to create and perform never went away however, and in 2011, she returned to performing at high profile acoustic nights, show cases and live guest spots - most notably as support to acclaimed folk artist, Sam Carter. Played with a new found confidence, Clair’s songs and intricate acoustic picking style rapidly gained an audience.
Working with Stoke based music producer and visual artist Jon Aldersea, Clair completed her stunning twelve track debut album ‘Lemon Trees’ for release in 2013. Sourcing production influences and inspiration from the likes of John Barry and Ennio Morricone, Jon Aldersea has provided textural dynamics and full orchestration to the album, subtly enhancing the timeless beauty of the songs.
This album has also been expertly mastered by Pete from the band Horowitz, who you know we've long been associated with here at Squirrel HQ. So, when the opportunity came up to stock a few copies of this wonderful recording, we figured we would've been stupid not to. It isn't often we wander down the acoustic singer songwriter road, but we always love a laid back and beautiful melody.... and this album certainly delivers plenty of those.
