Featured Girl One And The Grease Guns Release:
Night Of The Living Electrical Appliances
Following on from their seven limited edition 7" singles on Squirrel Records, and the setting up of their own Next Phase : Normal Records label which, as its debut release at the start of 2017, put out "The Strange Little Lines That Humans Draw In The Dust" CD, gathering all of Girl One And The Grease Guns' recordings up to date...we now bring you "Night Of The Living Electrical Appliances" - a full length, 12 track album release !
Hiding themselves away for a while in their own studio, The Glass Factory, Girl One And The Grease Guns commenced the recording of what was originally going to be a triple album. They then decided that wasn't a good idea at all. In fact, they don't really like albums, in general. So, they're not going to record another one after this. All 12 tracks recorded for this collection, however, were considered to be so satisfactory that they could not resist the urge to release them as a full length debut...and so, that's what they've done.
"Night Of The Living Electrical Appliances" continues the Girl One And The Grease Guns approach to writing and recording - mixing pure electro-pop with more experimental, darker sounding tracks. The pop side of the band is in full force on this LP, with tunes such as "He's A Replicant", "She's A Calculator" and "Emergency (Dial 999)". The moodier, more stripped back and skeletal side of the band is also represented in recordings such as "Telegraph Street", "Mute Your Gums" and the frankly eerie album closer, "(She Sits) In The Freezer". If you're looking for musical influences stored within this package - there's a few of them. Rumour has it they pumped tracks by Cabaret Voltaire, Silicon Teens, and Crash Course In Science, as well as early stuff by Depeche Mode and The Human League into the studio for inspiration. They wanted to give the whole album its own kind of sound - a little bit different from what has gone before, but also, still familiar to anyone who already knows the music of Girl One And The Grease Guns. They're pretty confident that they've managed to achieve that.
The first 50 copies only of this album will be available in a limited edition tin box, complete with artwork design by Jon Aldersea at Goldphone Creative Media. All copies sold after that will be standard CD jewel case with booklet.
