Featured Girl One And The Grease Guns Release:
The Strange Little Lines That Humans Draw...
"Who exactly are Girl One And The Grease Guns" ? After the passing of nearly 4 years, several people are still asking that very question whenever they listen to any of their single releases. The simple answer is (and has always been) "It Does Not Matter".
All that really matters is, over seven limited edition 7"s, released between April 2013 and July 2015 on Squirrel Records (now sadly deceased) Girl One And The Grease Guns delivered nineteen slices of electronic pop brilliance and off-kilter, experimental compositions. Not so easy to pin down, sonically speaking - one minute they could get you up on the dance floor with something really catchy such as Jessica 6 or The Shatterproof Man, and the next they could have you sticking your fingers in your ears with a white hot slab of pure noise such as (Here Come The) Catastrophe Machines. Somewhere in between the two, they could deliver tracks like (I'm A) Willing Receiver or Bring On The Dancing Horse Meat - both of which have strong pop elements - but certainly not in the typical sense.
Earlier this month, Girl One And The Grease Guns announced they would be releasing The Strange Little Lines That Humans Draw In The Dust - a 20 track compilation CD of absolutely everything they have recorded so far (excluding tracks they are currently in the process of mixing for their debut album, which will be released in early 2017) This CD is being released on their very own brand new label, Next Phase : Normal Records.
And so, here it is...The Strange Little Lines That Humans Draw In The Dust. All the singles, plus the bonus tracks, all gathered together in one place. You can almost smell the soldering fumes from those dodgy old synths as you listen - and that's certainly our kind of sonic pleasure...
