Transmissions From The Glass Factory
Following the release of their one and only album last year, Girl One And The Grease Guns returned to their own studio to start work on what has become the "Transmissions From The Glass Factory" recordings. Not wishing to go down the obvious path of simply compiling these tracks and releasing another album (they did, after all, promise in the notes of Night Of The Living Electrical Appliances that there would be no further album releases) they instead decided to plan a series of one side only, strictly limited edition, white label, hand-stamped (in homage to the acid house/techno white labels from decades ago) 2 track 12" singles, each one housed in plain white card outer cover with a sticker - plus, you get a bonus CD of the 2 tracks from the single included.
The first of these 12"s (Transmissions From The Glass Factory - Episode 1) features the tracks "Good Morning, Mr X" and "Forever Seems So Long". "Good Morning, Mr X" finds Girl One And The Grease Guns in pulsing, trashy disco mode. Under 3 minutes long, with a repetitive rhythm throughout, and full of pure electro pop hooks, this is one of the finest songs Girl One And The Grease Guns have recorded so far. It comes complete with "Forever Seems So Long", which is full-on gorgeous synth pop, reminiscent of earlier Girl One recordings such as Driving Without Headlights (Once Again) Packed solid with catchy melodies and a pounding beat, this is the kind of stuff that drew people to the band in the first place.
More 12" releases will be coming, over the next few months....but here you have the first of the planned series. Buy it....and, as always....play it LOUD !!!
