A BIG thanks to everyone who has picked up a copy of The Blanche Hudson Weekend 7" and made it the fastest selling single we've ever released on Squirrel Records. There's still a few left, but they're going quickly. So if you haven't got yours yet, then be sharp because they won't be around forever. Obviously, we'll re-press it if the orders keep on coming like this... but get cracking if you're wanting a copy of the first run.

SQRL 22 - The Medusa Snare - Cinderella CD album. 10 tracks of lo-fi noise pop heavily influenced by bands such as Guided By Voices and The Clean. Featuring ex-Manhattan Love Suicides members Adam and Rachel. Essential listening for anyone who loves their pop a bit damaged sounding.

SQRL 25 - Ailsa Craig - A Silent No CD album. 12 tracks of sonic moodiness drawing on influences as diverse as The Field Mice, Autechre and Hood and intertwining elements of pop and experimental electronica. Ailsa Craig is the recording project of Random Number Matt Robson with the lyrical and vocal skills of ex-Manhattan Love Suicides front woman Caroline McChrystal. Also features a host of guest musicians including Darren from The Manhattan Love Suicides too.

There has been quite a demand for our Manhattan Love Suicides T-shirt. Because of this, we are now totally sold out of Small, Medium and Extra Large sizes. Only a few of the Large size remain; order now or miss out!!!

Up to this point we've been all about the vinyl and the CD's, but we're now expanding to incorporate T-shirts. SQRL 21 - Downdime - Knowing Too Much CD album - To be released mid January. Much anticipated debut album from Leeds' finest indie pop merchants.

SQRL 22 - The Medusa Snare - Cinderella CD EP. To be released April/May. This is the solo recording project of Adam from The Manhattan Love Suicides. Originally scheduled for a February release ... only a slight delay though.

SQRL 23 - The Manhattan Love Suicides debut album will finally see a release on CD on Squirrel Records. Previously only available on vinyl LP or import only CD from Magic Marker, we're releasing this in March ahead of the band's 2nd full length album which should be ready around April/May. But, rather than simply re-issue the debut as it is, we're filling it out with :- 10 bonus cuts featuring single tracks, exclusive recordings and a couple of odds and ends PLUS - A DVD featuring all the promo videos so far, plus several brand new promos for debut album tracks and single tracks.

First up, The Manhattan Love Suicides Burnt Out Landscapes is now back in stock after the first pressing completely sold out. So, if you've been wanting to grab a copy, now you can once again.

In other news, following almost immediately after the Veronica b/w The 10th Victim 7", The Manhattan Love Suicides release another 7" single featuring 2 more tracks, "Kessler Syndrome" and "Don't Leave Me Dying". Following this will be the debut CD EP by The Medusa Snare-featuring Adam from The Manhattan Love Suicides, and finally for 2008, the debut album from everyone's favourite psychedelic pop merchants, Downdime. This is a great album and will be available on CD only initially... and should be available to pick up from us here at the end of November... just in time for Christmas!

Yes, that's right... we sold out of The Manhattan Love Suicides Burnt Out Landscapes CD, so the Squirrel Records version of this release will be TEMPORARILY unavailable until re-pressing (End Sept). Dead Penny Records, a brand new independent label, are releasing the debut album by The Insect Guide, "6ft In Love", in association with us here at Squirrel Records. This will be released on 10th September and will be distributed by Cargo in the UK, and available to order here at the Squirrel Records website too.

This is something we're very happy to be associated with. The Insect Guide combine all the best bits of The Velvet Underground, My Bloody Valentine and Spacemen 3 to produce a fantastic collection of shoegaze influenced dream pop. The debut album features 9 tracks, and will come with a DVD of 9 accompanying promo videos.

Yellow Mica Recordings in Sweden have just recently released a very limited edition compilation CD called "Wearing Our Punk Rock Hearts On Our Sleeves" which features 18 bands covering their favourite first wave punk rock tracks.

The Manhattan Love Suicides deliver a head pounding, noise drenched version of Teenage Jesus And The Jerks‘ "Orphans" which manages to be even more fucked up sounding than the original, and Downdime supply a fantastic, raw version of The Saints‘ classic "(I‘m) Stranded" which is just pure class. Just a quick bit of news to let you all know we're removing the Squirrel Records Forum. Nobody has bothered to post information about gigs or just any interesting stuff since that brilliant YouTube thread that received well over 7000 hits, and keeping up to date with all the spammers on there has become a full time job in itself. So,we'd just like to say thank you to all the people who've posted and (genuinely) registered to voice their opinions, put up gig information or just made things funny, lively and interesting on there over the period of time it's been up n' running. Who knows.... it might re-appear in the future, but for now... it's gone.

Well, what can we say - if you didn't take the opportunity to snap up some copies of the Squirrel releases in the Summer Slop Out Sale , it's too late now.

So far in 2006, we've brought you the "Hate The Morning" / "Joanne" 7" by Downdime and The Nasties / The Stuck Ups split LP. Next up looks like being the debut vinyl only LP by The Manhattan Love Suicides. This band have only played 5 gigs, none of which have lasted longer than 10 minutes, so that's a total of 50 minutes on stage, and already they're recording a debut album. Expect to hear highly fuzzed up guitars, pounding drums and female vocals. For influences think Jesus And Mary Chain, Galaxie 500, The Velvet Underground, The Rosehips, The Golden Dawn, Meat Whiplash... that kind of stuff. Should be 11 noisy, fuzzy pop hits scuzzily produced by our friend Matt at his Random HQ and available for you to buy soon.

Next up after that looks like it could be the 2nd 7" from Downdime (the "Seeds Of Hopelessness" 7" is down to the final 20 copies so if you want one,get in there fast folks 'cos once they're gone,they're gone for good and then you'll be moaning when they're no longer available and Downdime will be massive and....well,you get the idea)

There's also a band called....well,dunno now 'cos they were called The Manhattan Love Suicides until they realised some other band have got that name so they're currently nameless but still FUCKING GREAT!!! and if we can get them to stay together long enough (the most disorganised bunch of c**ts we've ever encountered) to record something we should have a very shambolic release on our hands which we'll be very excited to press onto vinyl and get out there.
