Featured Split Release:
Squirrel Number 3
Were you one of the 300 people who managed to get your hands on this single first time around? If so, keep your copy safe as it is now very much sought after. If you weren't so lucky, but still want to pick up a copy of the very first tracks The Cribs unleashed on the world, and very early recordings from Jen Schande on the flipside too... then here is your chance. This one didn't stick around very long when we first released it back in 2003, and since then it's been deleted and out of print. Imagine our thrill when The Cribs asked if we would like to re-issue the single to celebrate their 10th anniversary. Jen was very happy for this to go ahead as well, as she is heading over to the UK in November to play some gigs. Well, it seemed like a no brainer to do it, really. Erm... so we have. This time, the vinyl is brown instead of blue, as 2 thirds of The Cribs originally wanted to press the single on brown, but lost out to the other member of the band when they tossed a coin. Anyway, enough of us waffling on like wistful old farts... all you need to know is the 2 Cribs tracks on here were recorded by the band themselves at their own Springtime Studios on reel to reel tape - and the results are rough, raw and full of youthful energy and enthusiasm. The flipside by Jen Schande is just as powerful in its own way, with both tracks recorded at home on 8 track, and coming across like a cross between The Breeders and Cat Power. Get this one while you can, because just like the original pressing all those years ago... when it's gone, it's gone forever.
